We'll meet in Westlake Village Monday morning at 8:00am. First we have a brief orientation where we'll provide an overview for the week, hand out route slips, make introductions, and answer any questions you have. We begin riding at 9:00am. New for 2012, all rides start and end at our new Host Hotel, the Westlake Village Inn in Westlake Village.

Our training camp starts off with three of the famous climbs in the area, Rockstore, Decker and Yerba Buena. Decker includes a 1/2 mile section with grades from 10-19%. The views from the top of Yerba Buena are outstanding. Did we mention you should probably have either a compact with a 28 on the back or a triple?

Piuma may be one of the most scenic climbs in all of southern California. It follows a thin ridge up the mountains to top out with 360 degree views all around. It's also 5 miles of 6-10% grades. Rest up on the descent because Fernwood is another 5 mile climb with similar grades.

Latigo Canyon is one of the classic climbs in the area. At just over nine miles in length with steady grades and constant views of the Pacific Ocean, it's no wonder Lance used to train on Latigo when he was in the area. Of course to get to it from Agoura Hills we have to climb the usual suspects. We'll also take a cruise along Zuma Beach and Point Dume.
52 miles / 5,200 ft. elevation gain
This is a big one. We'll ride Mulholland all the way out to the Pacific Coast Highway, then do multiple loops around most of the classic climbs. During the course of the ride we'll summit Cotharian, Mulholland and Encinal. And if you have the legs, you can add Latigo to the feat.
Two Choices: 70 miles & 8,373' OR 90 miles & 10,573' elevation gain
Since we just can't ride up Piuma enough, we'll hook it up to Tuna Canyon, famous for its twisty descent - 70 turns in 4.1 miles. After descending down to Malibu and sea level, we'll ride up Las Flores, one of the steepest climbs around, which tops out at 18%. But the views are amazing...
